Ashbrook Lodge Bed and Breakfast in Doolin is a family run home  set on a spectacular 3/4 acre site overlooking Galway Bay, the Aran Islands and Connemara, all rooms and public areas have unique and panoramic views.

Ashbrook Lodge B&B is a newly built home in traditional style. All rooms are individual in design and have been beautifully decorated to the highest standard to give an elegant feeling of spacious comfort. Just outside  Doolin Village and an ideal base for touring the Shannon and Galway Regions. Yours Hosts are a young couple with backgrounds in the Bed and Breakfast and Tourism industries.

About Doolin

This is a place of great beauty and tranquillity, where the visitor can refresh their spirits away from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. For some it is the centre of music and merriment. For others it is a base from which to explore a magnificent part of Ireland. It is a paradise for geologists, botanists, ornithologist, speleologist and walkers.

Our restaurants offer fine foods with local seafood a speciality. Our world-famous pubs feature traditional music sessions nightly. Craft shops offer a range of locally produced hand-crafted products. Music shops have a wide range of items to suit all tastes.

Within hiking distance of the Bed & Breakfast are the majestic Cliffs of Moher, battling daily with the Atlantic ocean. They rise in places to over 700 feet. A visitor centre is open all year round.

Four miles east of Doolin is Lisdoonvarna, Ireland's only Spa town.

The B&B is on the fringe of the world famous Burren, a remarkable limestone area which has a combination of many visual features that make it unique in Europe. Its geology, flora, caves, archaeology and history set it apart as a place of mystery and beauty - an explorer's dream. The Burren Display Centre in Kilfenora helps unravel many of the Burren's mysteries.

Local activities include ferry trips to the Aran Islands and along the Cliffs of Moher, golf at Lahinch famous links course, pitch & putt, fishing, caving, walking, cycling, horseriding, surfing, scuba diving, canoeing and bird watching.

Shannon Airport & Kilimer Ferry are within a 1 hour drive.

Walking

There are many coastal walks in the area which take in spectacular scenery. Increasingly popular walking routes can be followed on an organised basis. Walks, varying from one day to one week, are marked out with distinctive pointers. Detailed charts and information pamphlets are available.

Golf


Clare has 11 golf courses ranging from world - renowned seaside links to parkland courses, providing a variety of challenges to any handicap. Most are playable all year round.

The 18-hole championship course at Lahinch has the "Klondyke" and the "Dell" holes, numbered among the most famous in golf.

Other 18-hole courses in the region include, Ennis, Dromoland, Bodyke, Gort, Woodstock, Shannon, Kilkee, Kilrush, Doonbeg, Birr, Nenagh, Roscrea and Thurles.

Spanish Point has a 9 hole course, as do Portumna and Templemore.
The following are par-three golf courses:
Rosshill Golf Course at Roscam, Ennis, Kilrush, Nenagh, Liscannor, Sixmile Bridge, Lisdoonvarna and Lahinch.



Visit the Islands

The Aran Islands, one of the last outposts of Gaelic civilisation where Irish is still the spoken language, are ony 30 minutes by Ferry from Doolin.

Historic Scattery Island, where St Senan founded a monastic settlement in the 6th century is less than 2 miles from Kilrush Marina.

Travel to Holy Island (Inis Cealtra), one of Ireland's most famous monastic sites, from Mountshannon. Its many attractions include a well preserved Round Tower, the ruins of 6 churches and an extraorinary cell like structure.
